As a leading timber door manufacturer and installer, Ahmarra has adopted a positive approach to our various social responsibilities. We value the world we live in and constantly strive to implement best working practices aimed at maximising potential environmental benefits and minimising possible adverse effects. By taking such issues seriously, we believe we can have a positive impact on the well being of society and so we have gone well beyond legal compliance to integrate socially responsible behaviour into our core values.

Environmental Sustainability

Passionate about minimising our environmental impact, Ahmarra use Forest Stewardship Council™ certified wood from responsibly managed forests, to produce our doors and frames as standard.
We are third-party BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Scheme certified, which means we proactively seek to improve our environmental performance through the reduction of waste, energy, water, materials and emissions.
Since having 800 solar panels installed, up to 65% of our energy consumption is clean, green energy generated by the sun, enabling us to achieve an ‘A+’ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) efficiency rating.
Ahmarra are BS EN ISO 14064 Carbon Footprint Verified. This means that we quantify, monitor and report our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using this globally recognised standard. The report findings are used to proactively develop processes that support effective CO2 reduction.

Supporting Local & National Charities

Ahmarra organise a number of staff fundraising events throughout the year for local and national charities. Our recent charitable activities have included;

  • Lunchtime BBQ & cake sale, quiz nights and fun runs with all donations match funded by Ahmarra.
  • Ahmarra host our annual Christmas Jumper Day and ask staff to donate items for a chosen foodbank to help local families during the festive period. We also donate surplus wood generated during our manufacturing process to local foodbanks for use as kindling for heating.
  • Timber off cuts have been donated to a local school for use in their woodwork classes. Inspiring the next generation of joiners, pupils use the wood to practice making joints and creating craft items.
  • Ahmarra recently donated doors and ironmongery to a community hub in Cosham.
  • Ahmarra are pleased to support Hayling Community Christmas Lunches, and our staff volunteer their time at the festive event. The event aims to reduce social isolation by providing companionship for residents who may otherwise have spent Christmas alone.

Independent Third-party Certification of Fire Doors

Third-party certification of fire doors is a process of testing and verifying the door’s design, performance, manufacturing process and quality assurance of procedures and supporting documentation.
Ahmarra strongly endorse third-party certification, and as such, are a member of the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture and Q-Mark Fire Door Installation schemes. Our timber fire doorsets are certified under BM TRADA, providing an additional level of assurance – beyond the legal requirements – that our doors are fit for purpose through on-going compliance to the original product specification.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

We are committed to ensuring the welfare of our team – at our production facility, whilst transporting our doors and whilst installing them on site. Ongoing training is key to a safe working environment, and as such, our staff undertake a range of health and safety courses relating to first aid, manouvering forklifts and driving our delivery vehicles.
Our Q-Mark Fire Door Installation team are Contractors’ Health And Safety (CHAS) scheme and SafeContractor accredited, and hold a valid CSCS card, mitigating supply chain risk and ensuring a safe environment.

Dedicated to providing training and professional development opportunities, many of our staff have been supported to gain industry-specific qualifications and have moved up through the ranks from entry level positions to management roles.
Keen to employ young people from our local community, Ahmarra have taken on many apprentices over the years. All of them have been offered permanent roles on successful completion of their apprenticeships, progressing in their chosen career path with further training, qualifications, promotions, wage increases and more responsibility.

Ahmarra are third-party BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System certified, which means we relentlessly strive to enhance the quality of our doorsets, improve the delivery of our service, develop the range of training opportunities for our staff, and ultimately, raise the bar in certified fire door manufacture.
