Product Development / Technical Manager

Are you an experienced Product Development / Technical Manager within the fire door sector?

Due to continued growth and customer demand, we have an opportunity for an experienced Product Development / Technical Manager to join our team.

You will be responsible for overseeing our new product development and testing programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Project manage the fire, smoke and security test programme, ensuring the company complies and adheres to all current legislation, policies and procedures
  • Identify and manage manufacturing process improvements & initiatives
  • Project manage product / testing / process development
  • Drive the process forward, ensuring allocated tasks are monitored and completed on time
  • Ideally, you will come from a timber fire door, ironmongery or certification body background with technical knowledge of timber fire doors, including Field of Applications and EXAP reports

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:

  • Software and design skills, ideally Solidworks, Indesign, Autocad & BIM modelling
  • Good understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles & processes
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fire safety
  • The ideal candidate will be diligent, with an eye for detail, a positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work under your own initiative with a customer service focus

This role could also be adjusted to suit a part-time position for the right candidate.

There may be an opportunity to progress into a Director level role, subject to the success and growth of the business.

Fire Door Project Manager

Ahmarra is one of the UK’s leading bespoke fire door manufacturers. We manufacture specialist timber fire doors for major construction projects from our brand-new purpose-built factory in Havant Hampshire. With our continued growth and customer demand, we have an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be diligent, with an eye for detail with a positive, enthusiastic attitude with the ability to work under own initiative with a customer service focus. We are looking for someone with excellent technical sales, time management and planning skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and schedules to validate feasibility and compliance
  • Prepare and communicate detailed project briefs to design, planning, and production departments
  • Track project milestones, lead times, and critical paths to ensure timely delivery
  • Coordinate change control processes, including amendments to specifications, materials, and delivery dates
  • Monitor quality standards and escalate issues to QC or production leadership when required
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, RFI logs, approvals, and risk registers
  • Lead project review meetings and production kick‑off meetings
  • Assist with technical clarification and provide guidance to customers on product suitability
  • Support installation teams or contractors with technical information and problem resolution
  • Analyse project performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Help other members of the team with knowledge, skills and techniques they can learn and use
  • Help with ideas on continuous improvement within the business

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service/telephone experience – ideally with architects, main contractors and sub-contractors
  • Genuine enthusiasm and capable of working autonomously
  • Good working knowledge using Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • In-house training of company CRM will be provided
  • Excellent organisational skills and good attention to detail

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of architectural ironmongery
  • 5+ years of experience in fire door projects
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within compliance
  • Technical knowledge of timber fire doors and third-party certification, ideally BM TRADA Q-Mark

Production Operative / Bench Joiner

Responsibilities:

• Duties will include carrying out basic bench joinery work such as assembling door frames, fitting timber glazing cassettes and fitting door ironmongery components.
• The successful candidate will be able to follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), whilst ensuring compliance to all Health and Safety and PPE requirements at all times, as per the Company Health and Safety Policy.
• Performing various other tasks as directed by your Supervisor.
• Full training will be given.

Key Skills/Person Specification:

• Joinery or wood machinist knowledge preferable, but ability to use hand tools is essential.
• A high level of attention to detail to adhere to our high quality control standards.
• A flexible, friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
• A flexible attitude in respect of overtime working as and when required.
• A good standard of fitness is required as some materials may need manual handling.

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Ahmarra require an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on a part-time basis (32 hours per week). We have invested heavily in new machinery for our new production facility in Havant, and it is vital that it is maintained to a high standard to enable us to meet the needs of our fast-paced, expanding business.

You would be required to have good hands-on knowledge of process plant and equipment, and carry out planned and reactive maintenance.

The majority of our plant and its machinery is relatively new (between 1 to 6 years old), and includes CNC routers, CNC beam saw, CNC sanders and conventional woodworking machines, as well as a biomass boiler and dust extraction unit.

Responsibilities:

  • PPM for all equipment/machinery/plant
  • Identifying and investigating faults
  • Basic repair and maintenance
  • Health and safety compliance
  • Overseeing maintenance plan with colleagues and engineers

Key Skills/Person Specification:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production facility
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical and electrical, preferably 18th Edition
  • A keen interest in manufacturing, joinery, or wood machining
  • A high level of attention to detail to adhere to our high-quality control standards
  • A flexible, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude

Ahmarra manufactured over 80 bespoke pre-hung doorsets for Chichester College’s brand new, state-of-the-art Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) facility on behalf of main contractor Willmott Dixon. Part of a multi-million-pound project, the doorset package included BM TRADA Q-Mark certified FD30s & FD60s fire & smoke-rated doors and non fire-rated doors, as well as side screens and internal stand alone screens.
