Ahmarra Hosts Fire Door CPD Events
Ahmarra recently hosted insightful Fire Door CPD Events at our production facility in Havant, Hampshire. These successful events, which ran over two days, provided an opportunity for architects, design managers, construction contractors, building surveyors and fire safety officers to learn more about specifying fire doors.
The well-attended events included talks on fire doorsets by industry experts from Ahmarra, as well as our suppliers – Dormakaba, Lorient and Pyroguard. Ahmarra’s Business Development & Specification Director, Martyn Fennell, gave a presentation on fire doors and their components, which covered third-party fire testing, certification, manufacturing and installation. Dormakaba’s Product Manager, Graham Hulland, gave a talk on closer types and hardware, and invited attendees to look around Dormakaba’s mobile showroom. Lorient’s Specification Manager, Sarah Lewis, delivered a presentation on door sealing systems, whilst Pyroguard’s Sales Director, Andy Lake, gave a presentation on fire safety glass used for fire door vision panels and side screens. Attendees were also given a tour of our purpose-built manufacturing facility by Ahmarra’s Sales Director Ian Martin, Project Director Danny Fowles and Project Managers Jack Brewer & Josh Ballingall, so they could learn more about the controlled manufacturing processes involved in producing bespoke fire doors, frames and screens.
The events gave attendees the chance to earn six RIBA learning points, gain a CPD certificate and provided excellent networking opportunities. The Cornish Cookhouse street food team prepared a delicious lunch from their mobile catering truck.
Ahmarra were delighted to receive excellent feedback from all attendees.
Rob Preston, Kier’s Group Fire Safety Advisor, described the event as, “A great engagement opportunity”, whilst John Armstrong, Kier’s Group Category Manager, said “Really impressed by the new facility, this together with the obvious depth of knowledge of the team, makes Ahmarra a strong contender as a preferred supply partner”.
Lawrence Obayojie, Willmott Dixon’s Senior Design Coordinator said, “The event was very innovative and very relevant to the projects I am working on at the moment”.
Paul Bray, the Fire Safety Manager at Plymouth Community Homes, said, “A very useful day, the staff at Ahmarra were very professional and welcoming. The content for the day was spot on. The tour of the factory gave a great insight into the high standards used in the manufacturing and construction of the fire door sets, and the topics of the presentations fitted perfectly with what I wanted to get out of the day.”
Vincent Stapleton, Hampshire County Council’s Senior Fire Advisor, said, “Good pace of input, very knowledgeable people.”
