Contractor: CLC Group
Client: Junior School
Type of works: Manufacture & Install of 30 Q-Mark Fire Doors

Ahmarra manufactured and installed 30 pre-hung doorsets for a junior school in Southampton under the Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture and Q-Mark Fire Door Installation schemes.

Main contractor, CLC Group, chose Ahmarra to manufacture and install the FD30 and FD60 fire doors as part of the school’s fire compartmentalisation upgrade plan.

Fire Door Specification

Selected from our Education Range, these contemporary fire doors and frames are made from FSC® certified timber. The circulation and public space doors, such as those for the corridors, sports hall and library are faced with Polyrey’s Rouge Fatal FA (R062) high pressure laminate, whilst doors for the toilets, secure storage cupboards and staff rooms are faced with Polyrey’s Noir FA (N005). This high pressure laminate features an anti-bacterial additive that kills 99.9% of bacteria within 24 hours, which helps minimise the spread of infection throughout the school.

Many of the doorsets feature our standard VP01 vision panel, with glazing from Fire Glass UK. Our VP01 vision panel, as well as all of our standard vision panels, are Equality Act compliant to BS 8300-2:2018. The vision panels are encased in American White Oak cloak (aka bolection) bead to match the concealed lippings.

Designed for longevity, these severe-duty doorsets have been lipped on all four edges and feature stainless steel kick plates.

These pre-hung doorsets were supplied with fully compatible, factory-fitted stainless steel ironmongery as standard, including the kick plates and radius lift-off hinges. Some doors also feature Consort’s lever handles, flush bolts, escutcheons, mortice latches, mortice deadlocks and sashlocks with anti-rattle keeps, as well as closers from dormakaba.

Doors were supplied with pre-primed frames manufactured from engineered softwood – a premium quality, sustainably sourced timber that offers dimensional stability. The CLC Group team painted the door frames on-site.

Fire Door Installation

The bespoke doors were fitted during the school’s summer break, so no disruption was caused to staff or pupils. Our fully qualified and experienced Q-Mark Fire Door Installation team are CHAS Contractors’ Health And Safety scheme and SafeContractor accredited, and all of our installers hold a valid CSCS card, mitigating supply chain risk and ensuring a safe environment. Ahmarra are also a member of the British Safety Council.
