Ahmarra were delighted to welcome back Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service, as well as Fire Safety Managers from the UK’s main contractors and Social Housing Regulation Officers from local councils, for another Fire Door CPD session last week.
The well attended event provided a useful two-way learning opportunity. Members of the Fire & Rescue Service gained a deeper understanding of how fire doors are specified, manufactured, tested, certified, installed and perform in a fire situation, during a presentation given by our Business Development & Specification Director, Martyn Fennell. As a fire door manufacturer and installer, it also gave our team the chance to learn more about the kind of safety issues Fire Safety Inspectors come up against on a regular basis.
Held at our fire door manufacturing facility in Havant Hampshire, the Fire Service were also given a tour of our factory, led by Sales Director Ian Martin. Throughout the tour, Ian explained the stages of manufacturing – from door core sizing and CNC machining to the application of decorative facings through to the bench joinery and assembly area – the Service saw our skilled craftsmen at work and a broad range of bespoke doors going through production.
David Knight, Fire Safety Inspector, said, “Thank you for the CPD. We greatly value learning opportunities like this with market leaders. It was a very useful morning and my colleagues found it equally of value.”
