Contractor: Avi Contracts
Client: Wellington Health Centre
Type of works: Doorsets & Ironmongery
Ahmarra Door Solutions were selected to manufacture over 70 fire doorsets with ironmongery for the newly-built Wellington Health Centre. The NHS Primary Care Centre, based in London, was designed by respected architectural firm Moss Architecture.
The client chose a combination of finishes for their Q-Mark certified fire doors – American Cherry veneer and Formica® laminate. The lippings of the American Cherry veneered doors were specifically stained to match the veneer. The colour selected for the high-pressure laminate doors was Formica’s Cassis – a stylish muted purple, that is in keeping with the centre’s interior design scheme. Ahmarra is FSC® certified (FSC C018847), which means all of these fire doors support responsible forestry. Doorsets were supplied with fully compatible, fire-rated ironmongery, including door furniture, locks and closing devices.
Fire resistance and infection control and were key requirements when designing these specialist doorsets, they therefore have a combination of FD30 and FD60 fire ratings, as well as easy-to-clean finishes. In such a busy environment, noise reduction and durability were also crucial considerations, so all doors have a 30-35RwdB acoustic rating, severe-duty core, robust facings and kick plates.
Ahmarra’s contract involved manufacturing doors for the whole health centre, including circulation area, consultation & treatment room, toilet & baby changing room, waiting room, office and storeroom doors.
Avi Contracts, who were sub-contracted by Storm Building, selected Ahmarra to manufacture the doors having completed a variety of successful projects together in the past, including the Royal Veterinary College.
