Type of works: Manufacture of PAS24 Internal Flat Entrance Doors and Fire Doors
Ahmarra manufactured pre-hung doorsets for a social housing project, including dual fire & security certified flat entrance doorsets, as well as fire-rated doors for the drying rooms and electric cupboards. Based in Southampton, the council housing provides accommodation for the over 55’s.
Fire & Security PAS24 Flat Entrance Doors
The flat entrance doors are certified under the Q-Mark Enhanced Security Door scheme, are Secured By Design (SBD) approved and meet PAS 24 standards. Also certified under the Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture scheme, the doorsets are FD30s fire and smoke rated.
Each entrance door incorporates a highly secure three point locking system and heavy duty lever handles. The door’s concealed closer ensures that it closes fully by itself. As soon as the door closes, it automatically locks with two high tensile steel hooks that engage with the heavy duty keeps, preventing the door from being forced apart from its frame.
Several of the ground floor flat entrance doors feature a remote controlled opener, which enables residents with limited mobility to open both the building’s main entrance door and their internal flat entrance door.
These doorsets feature a TS002 certified eye viewer which offers a 200° angle of vision. Doorsets also feature a TS008 certified letterplate, which means the letterplate has been designed to prevent key fishing and unlocking of the door through the letterplate, yet postal items can pass through freely.
Made from FSC® certified timber, the doors are faced with Formica’s Elegant Oak (F5374) high pressure wood-effect laminate, whilst the frames were supplied pre-primed ready for on-site painting.
Drying Room Doors
The communal drying areas provide a space for residents to dry their laundry. These drying room doors are FD60s fire and smoke rated. They feature a wide vision panel, allowing natural light to flood the hallways. These doors are faced with Polyrey’s Blanc Artic (B117) high pressure laminate, with contrasting American white oak glazing bead and concealed lippings.
Riser Doors
On the ground floor of each block of flats, there is an under stair electric cupboard. The riser doors for these cupboards have an FD30s fire rating. The cupboards are not intended to be accessible to residents and therefore incorporate a mortice deadlock and ‘Fire Door Keep Locked’ sign. These doors are also faced with Polyrey’s Blanc Artic (B117) high pressure laminate.
