Contractor: CLC Group
Client: Fire & Rescue Service
Type of works: Manufacture & Installation of Fire Doors
Ahmarra recently manufactured and installed over 250 fire-rated doorsets, glazed screens and internal windows combined for a Fire & Rescue Service Training Centre in Dorset.
The centre, which was a former army base, provides facilities for new recruits to familiarise themselves with equipment, practice drills, and develop their firefighting skills through a variety of realistic scenarios.
Selected by main contractor CLC Group, Ahmarra manufactured and installed doors over five blocks for the centre’s training & conference rooms, living quarters – such as dormitories, bathrooms, kitchens & lounge rooms – and storage spaces, as part of a refurbishment project.
Certification & Performance
Manufactured and installed under the Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture and Q-Mark Fire Door Installation schemes, the centre’s third-party certified doorsets are FD30s and FD60s fire & smoke rated.
As is standard with all of Ahmarra’s pre-hung doorsets, they were supplied with all essential parts factory-fitted, from a single source and with a single fire certificate, ensuring full compliance with Building Regulations. Components included glazing systems, fire & smoke seals and ironmongery, such as hinges, handles and Dormakaba cam action slide arm closers.
Committed to sustainable working practices, Ahmarra are FSC® certified (FSC C018847), and therefore all of these timber doors and frames support responsible forestry.
Door Design
These bespoke doors are faced with Polyrey’s Hetre De Provence (H027) wood-effect laminate, that has built in anti-bacterial protection.
Durability
Designed to withstand heavy footfall, these durable doorsets incorporate a severe-duty core, are faced with impact-resistant high-pressure laminate and lipped on all four edges for longevity. Doors also feature stainless steel kick and push plates to protect the door facings.
Ahmarra were sub-contracted by CLC Group to manufacture and install these fire doors, having worked together on a number of schools, civic offices, council housing, retirement homes and ministry of defence projects throughout the south of England over the past few years.
