Our trade organisation, ASDMA (Architectural & Specialist Door Manufacturers Association) have issued an update on the Government’s testing of the door industry post-Grenfell. It advises that there is no requirement to fire test on both sides of the door for timber doors as timber is currently tested on the most onerous side (opening into the furnace).

Statement below has been taken from ASDMA update: ASDMA_NoteTimber door testing_27Mar19

ASDMA wishes to affirm for Building Control that the protocol of using test results from a single test orientation, with the door leaf opening into the test furnace, is a confirmed and validated protocol which is well-established based on accumulated and shared test experiences, endorsed by the test authorities and confirmed by the sector.”

Ahmarra recently supplied sample timber fire doors for the Ministry of Housing test, which not only reached the required 30 minutes, but went beyond expectations and achieved a full 56 minutes!

As well as regular fire testing, Ahmarra undergo a rigorous auditing process, both of which are carried out by BM Trada – an impartial, third-party certification body. As such we are a certified member of the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacturer and Fire Door Installer schemes. Each fire-rated doorset we manufacture and install is fully complaint with Q-Mark certification.

Fire safety is at the core of what Ahmarra do, as such our team are continually striving to improve product performance, delivering a range of doors you can depend on.
